If you feel you need more time to complete your research master's programme, it is possible to request an extension (note the implications of re-enrolment and fees if you decide to request an extension). Your supervisor will be able to discuss your options with you.

For masters' programmes where the regulations stipulate that the programme must be completed within a specified timeframe, extensions must be academically approved by way of a PVC variation.

If an extension is agreed in programmes with no specified timeframe for completion, the department will be able to enter the new submission date in the system.
