Approximately 30+ papers are offered in Summer School each year, varying from year to year. Many papers are unique to Summer School, while others are core components of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.

All papers have full academic credit. Most Summer School papers carry the same point value as standard semester papers. One 18-point paper counts as full-time study, including for StudyLink purposes, though not all papers are 18 points. Papers with fewer than 18 points (for example, some Law papers) may not be considered full-time study.

Papers are taught over six weeks instead of the usual 13 weeks of a semester, providing an intensive learning experience that allows students to complete a full paper in a shorter timeframe.

Summer School includes both on-campus and distance learning options depending on the paper, allowing students to study from anywhere or benefit from smaller classes and a quieter campus.
