If you require access to a replacement degree certificate, certified digital copies are available using My eQuals. A hard copy of your original certificate can only be produced if it has been lost, damaged, or destroyed and incurs a fee of NZ$75 plus postage.
Most students graduating after 2017 will automatically have their degree certificate and academic transcript uploaded to My eQuals. These documents are considered official copies and can be used by students for applying to other institutions, included in resumes or CVs, and so on. If you have not previously accessed My eQuals, you will need to first create an account on the site and pay a one-off NZ$30 access fee to view your documents. You do not need to pay this fee again.
All replacement certificates will be issued on current University of Otago parchment paper. A reproduction may not be an exact duplicate of your previously awarded certificate. Reprints will include the name of the graduate, the qualification, the date awarded, and, depending on the date awarded, either the signature, or name of the Chancellor and Registrar at the time it was awarded.
As the University of Otago has been a place of learning for over 150 years, certificates for some historic requests cannot be reproduced. A letter of confirmation will be issued instead.
